Merry Thornton, Founder, PA-C
Merry is a board-certified New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut-licensed Physician Assistant. She earned her Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies at Weill Cornell and has spent the past decade working alongside leading dermatologists and plastic surgeons. She earned her Bachelor of Science at the University of Maryland and her Master of Business Administration from NYU Stern School of Business.
Prior to founding Element Medical Aesthetics, Merry gained experience in medical and cosmetic dermatology, developing a passion for skincare and the aesthetics field. Helping patients feel more confident in their skin is the most fulfilling part of her job. Merry stays on the forefront of new technology, trends, techniques, and procedures by regularly attending conferences and training sessions with field experts. Merry uses an individualized approach to each patient, thoroughly consulting with the patient, oftentimes employing a combination of treatments to achieve patient goals.
Merry served as an investigator on FDA clinical trials for Allergan, Merz, and Galderma and was a medical speaker for Pfizer. In her free time, Merry can be found spending time with her husband and two children, hiking, and singing karaoke. She also has a passion for animal welfare and is a mom to a dog and two cats.
Gregory L. Boris, D.O., Medical Director
Dr. Boris is an award-winning Emergency Medicine physician with 25 years of clinical experience. He is the Vice President of Medical Affairs at High Watch Recovery Center. Within the past decade, Dr. Boris developed a passion for aesthetic medicine and has been sharing his enthusiasm in this field by helping patients look their best. His favorite treatments to perform are filler and neurotoxin and he uses an individualized approach to get natural results and bring confidence to his patients.
Dr. Boris was the former Chairman of the Emergency Department in a busy mid-sized acute care community hospital.
He has worked in numerous community and academic emergency departments and completed residency training in a busy urban-based trauma center in New York City. He is also an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine for Quinnipiac School of Medicine, regularly lecturing medical students and teaching clinical medicine.
Amy Foxman, Registered Nurse
Amy Foxman is a Registered Nurse licensed in Connecticut, New York, Texas, and California. She attended The University of Notre Dame where she was an athletic scholarship recipient and member of the varsity women’s lacrosse team. After graduating from Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Journalism, Amy received an academic scholarship to pursue an accelerated Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Wagner College. As an empath and someone who is energized by helping others, Amy knew nursing was her calling
Amy was an award-winning oncology nurse at a top-ranked cancer center in NYC for the last decade, specializing in women’s oncology and plastic reconstructive surgery. Amy was well-known by patients for her compassion and gentle bedside manner and was recognized by her peers as a leader and forward-thinking collaborator. Amy has presented her research at a national symposium, authored patient education, and served on numerous committees and task forces. After becoming a mom, Amy shifted gears and wanted to tap into her creative side, which lead her to the field of aesthetics. She completed certifications in facial aesthetics, neuromodulators, and dermal fillers. She is known for her gentle hand, aesthetic eye, and attention to detail.
Amy believes there are many innovative ways to enhance natural beauty. Whether you’re seeking preventative or restorative treatments, Amy delivers the best results with a thoughtful, collaborative approach.
Amy enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and mini-Bernedoodle. She loves interior design, reading, Notre Dame sports, and is actively involved in local and nationwide mom groups. Amy is also a maternal mental health advocate.
Wendy van Giezen, Registered Nurse
Wendy van Giezen is a Registered Nurse and advanced aesthetic provider who specializes in non-surgical treatments with a focus on injectables such as neuromodulators and dermal fillers, laser therapies, and radiofrequency skin tightening. Wendy works in collaboration with Merry Thornton, owner of Element Aesthetics, to provide non-invasive techniques that enhance our patient's features. Wendy has extensive experience as a plastic surgery nurse and performing non-surgical cosmetic treatments. She has trained with top injectors across the country and is thrilled to have found her home at Element as she and Merry share the same philosophy when it comes to treating patients from a holistic approach.
Wendy graduated from The University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) with degrees in Nursing and Global Studies. She has been working in healthcare since 2010 and worked abroad learning aesthetic procedures in China, Taiwan, and the Netherlands.
Wendy’s interest in aesthetics began when she sought professional treatment for acne and scarring. A lot of trial and error, lasers, and microneedling treatments helped her feel comfortable in her own skin. She credits professional treatments and individualized skin care regimens for helping her look her best and feeling comfortable without makeup. As someone who is highly allergic to many skincare products and makeup, Wendy loves to educate her patients and help them find individualized solutions for their skin.
Coming from a long line of physicians and healthcare providers who practice Chinese medicine, Wendy is a big believer in holistic health. Her clinical experiences in Asia led her to be interested in achieving harmony and balance through health, wellness, and aesthetic treatments. Natural improvements to a patient’s outer appearance can support improved overall health and mental well being. Wendy combines both Eastern and Western therapies to help patients achieve their aesthetic goals. Her attention to detail and dedication to educating and empowering her patients makes her a tremendous asset to our practice.
Outside of the office, you can find her exploring the outdoors with her husband and daughter Lily!
Kailey, Board - Certified Aesthetician
Kailey is a board-certified, New York and Connecticut licensed aesthetician. She received her certification from the New York School of Aesthetics in White Plains. Kailey is skilled in facials, dermabrasion, HydraFacial, dermaplaning, brows, and chemical peels.
Kailey’s interest in skincare partly began when her mother was diagnosed with melanoma. Going through this experience has made her empathetic to her clients’ skincare concerns. She became accustomed to slathering herself in sunscreen at a young age!
Kailey loves listening to people and helping them achieve their skin goals. Kailey’s favorite treatment to perform is HydraFacial Deluxe and her favorite products are SkinBetter Alto Advanced and Alastin HA Immerse.
Kailey was born and raised in Norwalk. In her free time, she loves spending time with family, working out, and baking.
